mutleey
Hello everyone, is there any way to relieve cpu usage using any parameter below 10 milliseconds? I would like to use a sleep(5) for example, I know that sleep() is not possible because the use of 1 to 9 will be automatically standardized for 10 milliseconds. is there an alternative? Earthshine
If you can provide enough detail on what exactly you would like to do and provide a script (working or not) that you have tried, maybe someone can suggest a better way to do what you need to do without sleeps. To me, it sounds like you might be juicing the cpu with your script, and it may be possible to do it a more efficient way, depending on what you want/need to do. BrewManNH
What else are you doing in the loop that you need that short of a delay for? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Moderators Melba23 Posted April 13, 2018 Moderators Share Posted April 13, 2018 mutleey, See here: But like the others, I would question quite why you need to loop at anything faster than 10ms given the overall "speed" of AutoIt! mutleey
What happens is that I am doing an automation that requires a precision because it uses as an input an infrared receiver, the reading is very fast and if I use a looping check loop with a time of 10 ms which is the minimum that sleep() Sometimes (rare) the script loses its input, I'll give an example of how perfect it would be .. While True ; input verification... perfect 0% error, but the use of cpu reaches 50% WEnd While True ; input verification... 0% cpu usage, but 10% chance of giving error Sleep(10) WEnd so I wanted a "pause" of 5 or 3 ms in the looping Melba23 I already did some tests with this UDF, but the results were not good. Earthshine
mutleey, maybe you are doing some stuff in your 'input verification' that could be re-factored to be more efficient. post it if you want others to look at it. mutleey
Melba23 sorry I forgot to mention this detail, it was my fault. Earthshine I am rewriting the code by changing some calls to see the result.
