Escape Character for +

Good Evening,

How do I escape a + sign?

Send("my stuff a+x more of my stuff")

Trying to actually type something similar to the above into the putty console window and it just keeps adding them like this aX.

I attempted escaping it by placing ` in front of it, / in front of it, and surrounding it in quotes and double quotes. Couldn't find an answer online or in the wiki so here I am.
