ijourneaux
I have been trying to install Autoit on a Server 2016 machine. For some reason the install just stops. No error message. If you look in the event viewer, there is a reference to Cortana but that is about it. Anyone been through this?
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted February 7, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2019 @ijourneaux I have Server 2016 Datacenter and did a fresh install of the latest version of AutoIt and SciTE, and both installed just fine. I am able to write and deploy scripts from the machine no problem. What version of Server 2016, and what is the exact wording on the error message? "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. THere is no displayed error when I run the installer but in the event viewer I get Activation of app Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI failed with error: This app can't be activated by the Built-in Administrator. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information. I am a full admin on the server. I get exactly the same error when trying to install NotePad++ Edited February 19, 2019 by ijourneaux
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted February 19, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 19, 2019 Then it is an issue with your Windows Install. All of my 2016 Servers have Notepad++, and a number of them are used as scripting repositories for both PowerShell and AutoIt. Sounds like the error is telling you where to begin looking for more information. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. Skeletor
Try setting your User Account Controls to "Off"... Normally this is the issue when trying to install.
