ShrutiW
Hi All, I have started developing AutoIt script for windows application. I am able to test one scenario for our project. Now I need to create multiple scenarios for various test cases for the same application, And I have to run those scripts in visual studio. I'm confused which strategy should I follow? Will I be able to run multiple scripts for different different scenarios separately? Or should I merge them ? Please suggest me what is the correct way to do this? Earthshine
follow modular programming concepts is your best bet. you may be able to create utilities that you need and your tests can reference those, but I would keep tests separate. Without seeing what you are up to, it is very hard to gauge what you need or should best do. Do these tests relate to one another? In other words, does the result from one or more need to get fed to another one? And by merge, are you perhaps suggesting running simultaneously? Not something done very easily or well with AutoIt, as it isn't multi-threaded. Or do you want each to run in order, waiting for each to finish before starting the next? In other words using one main controlling process guiding all of your test cases ... much like click one button to do all. If they are totally independent, then perhaps they should stay that way ... but depends on how slick you might want to be ... and how confusing that could seem. Make sure brain is in gear before opening mouth! Remember, what is not said, can be just as important as what is said. Spoiler What is the Secret Key? If you are talking about automated testing that you can run everytime to check the code for bugs, then AutoIt does not have a testing framework (that I have seen). Someone has made an extension for AutoIt in Visual Studio if I remember correctly... ah, here you go: EasyCodeIt - A cross-platform AutoIt implementation - Fund the development!
