Champak
Is it possible to have one gui on multiple monitors? Or do I need to create multiple guis that do the same thing?
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted August 25, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2020 Depends, are you talking just mirroring the GUI, or each monitor's GUI being operated independently? Champak
If by mirroring you mean changes to the main gui display will be reflected on the other screens guis, then yes mirroring will work just fine for my needs. And I guess the second question would be will this mirroring method place the gui in the exact same place on all the screens....that is what I would like...top center. Thanks. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted August 25, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2020 If it is going to be the same GUI, reflecting the same changes, on all screens, I would say it would be much easier to simply use the multiple-monitor mirroring capabilities of the OS, rather than trying to code a work around, right? No need to reinvent the wheel. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. For the man who cannot express himself forcibly through intellect must do so through shock and awe" - Spencer W. Champak
Unfortunately that wouldn't work for my needs. I have other apps with different windows spread across the monitors. This app would be the only one on all the screens, it's data that I need to see at a glance no matter what screen I'm looking at. So I do need the mirroring function you mentioned. pseakins
I would say that you would need to create two GUIs and organise your code such that any display updates would be written to each GUI. All triggers would need to be duplicated and the results repeated, if necessary, to the other GUI. I can't see his being too much of a coding burden. Champak
Yeah I guess. Second question, is there a way to easily designate screens besides putting in coordinates?....this way I can say monitor x with the same coordinates of all the others. mLipok
@Champak do you have 2 monitors with the same screen resolution, and the same zoom / DPI settings ? ? is the screens duplicated or expanded on them ? If the screens are expanded and have the same parameters, ..... then I think you should be able to create one GUI for both monitors . Just using GuiCreate as a Width you must use sumarized Width from both monitros. REMARK: not tested, just a blind/lucky shot. Champak
4 monitors, expanded, all the same parameters. I don't understand: " then I think you should be able to create one GUI for both monitors . Just using GuiCreate as a Width you must use sumarized Width from both monitros." Or is there a mathematical formula that I could work off of that will allow me to input the coordinates of where I want the GUI to appear on the other monitors? The problem is I'm working blind. The computer I'm making the script on is not the one with the 4 monitors. I'd prefer to do this without a million trial and errors of going back and forth with compiling and recoding. I want to center top the GUI on the other 4 monitors. Edited August 26, 2020 by Champak
Nine
Did you notice that everyone who tried to help you, needed to GUESS what you want to achieve. Sorry to say, but your explanations are not very highlighting. So why not provide the GUI code you have done far, and give specific examples of the end results. argumentum
@Champak, don't say anything. You know. If you do, someone may copy your idea. You know. Is your idea. They would get the idea. Don't say it !. As it is, I'd say you already said too much. Follow the link to my code contribution ( and other things too ). FAQ - Please Read Before Posting. Champak
@Nine no I didn't notice everyone needed to GUESS at what I needed, I noticed one person took a shot if an idea would work and he clearly understood what I needed. And I provided all info anybody asked for, nobody asked for the script because it's not necessary, but I would have provided it with no issue. There is no example to provide, I'm asking if this is a capability of autoit. Either way, I've resolved my issue and just made multiple gui to update with the same info and used au3info to get the coordinates on the other computer. Like @pseakins said not much of a coding burden, i was just hoping there was some type of macro or automagical way to do what i wanted. Anyway, thanks all for the attempts.
