AutoIt version number system - (Moved)

Hello! In AutoIt version numbers, what do the numbers mean, and do they have official names like major.minor.build.revision?

E.g. the Windows GetVersion function uses major.minor.build.

V1=Major version
V2=Minor version
BP=Odd->Beta version; Even->Production version
SubVersion=SubVersion

I think I did read a description before, can't find it ether right now. It's pretty simple:

The beta releases can be accessed here: https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/files/beta/autoit/

Due to what you will see there the versioning system is

 

3.[2..3].[release, even=production, beta=odd].revision

 

v 3.3.16.1 is the latest production release (16=even number)

the final number is starting for each release with 0 again and is incremented, as changes were integrated to a new install package.

v 3.3.15.0 was the latest beta (15 = odd number)

I'm not aware, if all extra features from 3.3.15.0 beta made it to 3.3.16.0, pls. read up the change logs.

I just did read your "Let me think about that , so please check back again in 2 years!  " and misinterpreted it as "I-dont-care-at-all-the-way-windows-does-version-numbering"

Anyway: There is somewhere within the forums a topic / webpage already, that's covering the versioning explanation -- isn't it?

Better late than never, I just update several PCs from v3.3.14.5 to v3.3.16.1 

the latest Autoit Customized SciTE Editor Package is dated Mar. 16th, 2021, stating at the download page https://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit-script-editor/downloads/:

Definition files included: AutoIt v3.3.14.5 and BETA v3.3.15.3

 

The latest Autoit package is v3.3.16.1, dated Sep. 19th, 2022.

Does that SciTE cover all the changes that made it into Autoit v3.3.16.x, or are there definition files, that need to be manually added or replaced?

Yes, The Autoit3 installer will update the SciTE properties files, which you can easily check by opening the au3.keywords.properties, which has this first line:

;AutoIt3 Version 3.3.16.1
