WinMacBear
I am too lazy to put those important values into a database then to use the UDF to inquire those values..I guess..just want a easy way..but it's not a secure way anyway right? It's just for small workgroup so it won't be big issue. but...there are some smart guys there...you know...
WinMacBear
I understand I can use some function to encrypt them. But after encrypting I can not quote them directly. I have to decrypt first.. And the key is so easy to get.. Do I have to use the database? It's like I am seeking another job...

jchd
Users supply {login, passphrase}, you compute a strong hash of that pair. Your program (or an external file) holds a list of all valid hashes, maybe along with personal user data if needed. You lookup this list to find the same hash and voilà. Read about the _Crypt_HashData function in help file. There are several hash algorithms available in _Crypt_DeriveKey.
