Here is repro code:

as you can see I activate SciTE window, but this two lines

....
WinSetTitle($hwnd,'','NEW TITLE')
....
$oIE.navigate("http://google.com")
....

activating $hwnd

Question 1:
Why this 2 lines mentioned above activate $hwnd window ?

Question 2:
How to avoid window activation in this specific cases ?

Question 3:
Is this some kind of bug that WinSetTitle() activate window ?

I found answer to Question 2:
To avoid window activation there is a need to use:

....
GUISetState(@SW_DISABLE, $hwnd)

GUISetState(@SW_ENABLE, $hwnd)

like in the following example

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Hello. I think is not an issue. It's maybe something related to Windows I tested using SetWindowText API and It gets activated too even from an external process.

After  @Danyfirex answer it look like this is normal windows behavior.

I mean after    $oIE.navigate("http://google.com")   before @SW_Unlock.

after @argumentum this is interesting

Question 5:
How to get handle to the window which is embeded into to control by  GUICtrlCreateObj() function.

Because then it could be that this two following lines:

....
GUISetState(@SW_LOCK, $hwnd)
....
GUISetState(@SW_UNLOCK, $hwnd)
....

should be called on this embeded window and not on $hwnd .

And it is a solution that covers all my initial needs related to the task underlying this thread.

..... but......

I also checked with uncomented this folowing line :

....
GUISetState(@SW_LOCK, $hwnd)
....
GUISetState(@SW_UNLOCK, $hwnd)
....

And now I'm wondering:
Question 6:
Why windows title is changing (you can see it) regardless of the fact that window is locked ?

I mean if window is locked than in my understanding according to HelpFile:

Quote

@SW_LOCK = Lock the window to avoid repainting.

entire window and also WinTitle should not repaint  in this following scenario:

....
GUISetState(@SW_LOCK, $hwnd)
....
WinSetTitle($hwnd, '', 'NEW TITLE')
....
GUISetState(@SW_UNLOCK, $hwnd)
....

btw.
@argumentum Hope you are now happy with then next 6th question 😜

This is quite possible.
Of course, such a state of affairs is even good.
