Hi all

Like the title of this thread already asks:

In Scite Lite,
What is the Difference between Compile (Ctrl-F7) and Build (F7)?

They both seem to produce an .EXE, with an identical size even..

Hi

Like I added in the last sentence,
they both seem to produce an .EXE, with an identical size..

So there's no apparent difference..
(please note I am talking about Scite Lite.. Maybe in Scite Full their behavior is different?)

...if you wanna "build", do.
If you wanna change the info, compile a new set for the build, then "compile" the new data via the wrapper to change the data and build the executable.
Could of been called "build" and "Edit compilation and build". But english is not my mother tong so I just learned what I'm typing by .... thinking about it :)
But yours was a curious question, so, thanks ? :gathering:

lol, yes, there is no wrapper in the "lite" version, so, nothing different, just build.

I missed that, and I see what you mean when using just Lite. With the full package there is indeed a difference in behavior

hmm. @Zohar, you seem to look for a minimalistic deployment. My advise is to have a portable deployment of SciTE with full services. That way you can have your minimally intrusive/uncontained install that is actually not installed, just in a folder, and with 3 or 4 registry changes can look just the way you want it ;)
It is a given that you'd have to code it

The 2 files were identical in size,
but were not completely identical in content.

Doing FC/B on both, showed about 20Bytes different.

Just have a look at the commandline being ran by SciTE in the Output pane and you would have known.
