_Excel_BookOpenText Examples

I am having some strange behavior with my scripts and the example scripts for _Excel_BookOpenText

When I run the examples the first time it doesn't open excel (or maybe make it visible) but if I run it a second time boom there it is. I get the message saying it was opened and no errors. However, unless I run it that second time I don't see anything. 

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Have you been playing with the $bVisible parameter of _Excel_Open or _Excel_BookOpen lately?

I have to try and get it to appear. But, I took the examples right from https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/libfunctions/_Excel_BookOpenText.htm as well. 

I get the opened successfully message box. However, I do not see it. 

• When I run the example code the first time. Excel is visible in my Task manager as a background processes.  It is no where to be found on my taskbar though. 
• When I run it the second time. It becomes visible as a app in my task manager and opens. I can also see it on my task bar the second time I run it. 

EDIT: I am running a repair for office see if that changes anything.

If you set $bVisible in _Excel_Open to False you have to make sure to reset to True (see Remarks in the help file). Else Excel will remain invisible when called again.

@water Understood, I don't think that is my problem though. Because it is working correctly the second time I run the exact same code. 

When I run the example code like this. It works every time. adding the extra call _Excel_Open to after _Excel_BookOpenText it works every time. 

I am guessing if I was to try it on another computer it would work just fine. I am going to go test now.

Make sure there is no instance of Excel running in the Task Manager after your script has ended. _Excel_Open always tries to connect tio an existing instance.
Or set parameter $bForceNew to True for _:Excel_Open to make sure that a new instance gets started all the time.

Kutools for excel seemed to be the problem. (Not sure why) Once I uninstalled it. It works every time.
