fazekas_gergely
Hi everyone! I work as an intern at a company which uses Dynamics AX. My work includes creating lots of BOMs and Routing within AX, however we don't have direct access to the database, so we can only create BOMs one by one, using the AX GUI. I've (we've) been using AutoIt to automate the process using mouse clicks and Send() functions. This way I can create about 2,000 BOMs in an 8 hour shift, inserting data from an Excel file, which is of course way faster than doing it manually, however when there are over 20,000 Boms to create, it takes too long, and I can't use the computer for anything else while the script is running. I'm not a professional programmer or anything, but would there be a way to send commands directly to the AX program without using the GUI? I know AutoIt has functions for Microsoft Office, but is it possible to create functions to directly control other software as well? Thank you for the replies in advance.
