Hi all.  New to the forum and new to the Autoit tool for about 3-4 months.  I really really like the tool and wish I had discovered it several years ago.  What is the future for this tool?  I feel like I want to invest a lot of time learning it (and I have have a bit) but am wary of whether I should due to the fact I have no idea the direction the tool is going.  Thoughts?  Comments?

After the last version release (from a few months ago), we are currently in the process of introducing further improvements to many features.
Also the main IDE platform (SciTE4AutoIt3) will soon be released in the latest version with many great new features.

IMHO:
If you plan to create stuff for Windows10 Windows11 or any WIndows20XX then no problem with using AutoIt for next 10 years.

IMHO:
If you plan to create stuff for Windows10 Windows11 or any WIndows20XX then no problem with using AutoIt for next 10 years.

 

Autoit last version (Final release)  is slower, when recompiled source code with new version ,apps run slower

Are you feeling this ?

Can you show us reproducer which will measure time to show which function are slower ?

A popular use of AutoIt is to develop utilities for Microsoft Windows. Common tasks such as web site monitoring, network monitoring, disk defragmentation, and backups can be automated and combined into a customized utility.
Often AutoIt is used to create bots for online games. Bots allow some actions in games to be automated, and as a result, the user can achieve the desired result faster. This use of Autoit is frowned upon by the community because it creates a bad reputation for the program, but several such scripts can be found on the official forum. The use of bots is seen by most AutoIt users as foul play, and you should not expect much help from the community in creating them. Many community members do not consider such requests at all.

Using AutoIt to create gamebots is not frowned upon. It is forbidden according to the forum rules and terms of use. Simple as that.

I discovered AutoIt some 12 years ago. It took me a long time to appreciate the true power it has. 

I believe that AutoIt will be around for a long time to come. And in the meantime, we can have a lot of fun. :)
