2 scripts, first to send clipboard contents to a Word doc, second to send clipboard contents to OpenOffice Writer doc

Word works

Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2)

;

If WinExists("Microsoft Word")=0 Then

MsgBox(48, "The Word Bank", "There is no Microsoft Word window open")

EndIf

;

WinSetState("Microsoft Word", "", @SW_SHOW)

;

ControlSend("Microsoft Word", "", "Edit1",ClipGet())

ControlSend("Microsoft Word", "", "Edit1"," ")

WinActivate("Microsoft Word", "")

but OpenOffice does not,

Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2)

;

If WinExists("OpenOffice.org Writer")=0 Then

MsgBox(48, "The Word Bank", "There is no Open Office window open")

EndIf

;

WinSetState("OpenOffice.org Writer", "", @SW_SHOW)

;

ControlSend("OpenOffice.org Writer", "", "Edit1",ClipGet())

ControlSend("OpenOffice.org Writer", "", "Edit1"," ")

WinActivate("OpenOffice.org Writer", "")

Look in the AutoIt help file - index tab - under "Controls":

Note: AutoIt only works with standard Microsoft controls - some applications write their own custom controls which may look like a standard MS control but may resist automation. Experiment!

So, you have experimented and you know the results :-)

Open Office probably does not use "standard Microsoft controls"...........
