stevey 0 Posted February 1, 2006 Sorry for so many questions.. but I have another... (Just learning AutoIt, sorry!) I am working on a program that needs to be able to store a user name and a value with that user name and be able to recall that value when given the user name... For example... I would want this saved to the file: Stephen : 15 And later I would like to be able to search the file for "Stephen" and get the value "15". What would be the best method of doing something like this? Would I be saving the information to a .txt file? Or what other options of file types do I have to save the data to? I understand the basics of using AutoIt to open and get information for data, but I don't understand how to search for specific data. Thanks once again in advance. JSThePatriot 13 Posted February 1, 2006 It can be any of the "text" formats. Each have their own advantages... INI Files are structured to the point that you can name sections and keys. Keys contain values. CSV Files are structured by a character of seperation. CSV originally stands for comma seperated value, but at times you run into having values that have comma's in them, and something more creative was come up with. Using the "|" (pipe) seems to be the more common method. You can also use a .txt file. You can structure it how you prefer. Seperate values by space... lines... something else creative. Keep in mind that INI files have the INI Functions... CSV files you would need to write your own routines. Just some stuff to think about.
