Send Microsoft Access data to web app?

Recommended Posts

I am new to AutoIt.

I created an internal-use Microsoft Access application for a realtor. The database behind the application contains data that I would like to automatically feed to a web application (a multi-listing realtor system). This would avoid double entering the data. Can AutoIt collect data from Access tables and feed it to a web application?

Wouldn't it just be easier to use Microsoft Access native xml and have the website read that?

There are COM API example in the forum for both IE and Access. If you have access to the web application and database side of it however there are many more efficient and logical ways to tie the things together (ASP, ASP.Net, CGI scripting, ODBC, XML as mentioned above etc.). To get good advice here you'll need to explain your environment in more detail.

Free Internet Tools: DebugBar, AutoIt IE Builder, HTTP UDF, MODIV2, IE Developer Toolbar, IEDocMon, Fiddler, HTML Validator, WGet, curl

MSDN docs: InternetExplorer Object, Document Object, Overviews and Tutorials, DHTML Objects, DHTML Events, WinHttpRequest, XmlHttpRequest, Cross-Frame Scripting, Office object model

Automate input type=file (Related)

Alternative to _IECreateEmbedded? better: _IECreatePseudoEmbedded  Better Better?

IE.au3 issues with Vista - Workarounds

SciTe Debug mode - it's magic: #AutoIt3Wrapper_run_debug_mode=Y

Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?

Reproducer: a small (the smallest?) piece of stand-alone code that demonstrates your trouble

Thank you Dale. I have no control over the web application. It is called MLXchange and it a packaged piece of software by Interealty and used by our regional realtors. Basically, I want to click a button on my Microsoft Access application and have it feed data (keystrokes) to MLXchange. MLXchange offers no way to automatically feed data to it, so I must utilize the manual entry screens.

You can use IE.au3 (see my sig) to feed the web application. You have lots of choices on how to get the data from access... your method will depend on your comfort level and experience with COM, ODBC, XML and other choices. One of the simplest ways would be to export your access data to a CSV file or a fixed format file and parse it for the fields you want and then use IE.au3 to populate the web application.
