USB question

Morning..

Does anyone know how to force a refresh of the USB chain via a script?

The issue is that a card reader is installed on a computer but a faulty media card or other circumstance could make the drive perform unsafe removal of media and the drive letter would dissapear from "My Computer"

The only way of getting it back are 1 restart the PC or 2 remove the USB cable and replug which forces the USB to refresh.

I'm guessing there must be a way to do this but I am struggling to find out how.

Write a script to open system properties and scan for hardware changes. I would look into it a bit more but I am too busy today.

Take a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311272 for Devcon. You may be able to restart it with this.
