Understanding single / double quotes

Recommended Posts

Can someone give a detailed explaination of the proper use of single & double quotes? I don't have a handle on it yet and would like to understand the logic when a large number of qoutes are needed.

I would like this to be for everyone to learn from, not just an example of how to do it. I have a situation in another post that I haven't been able to figure out yet. Hopefully a detailed 'when' & '"where" will help us 'newbies" to learn the proper usage to accomplish our individual needs.

I've searched for "single qoutes" and "double qoutes" with a huge return but not finding a clear understanding of when to mix and match.

Complicated examples with clear explainations of why and when would be helpful as well.

Thanks
