nitekram
I am sure that it is somewhere on this forum, but you can understand my quandary when looking for the word 'script'. I just need to be pointed in the right direction. I am looking to write to a file (a predefined script) and then pick the script from a list of scripts and then copy it to the clipboard so that I can paste it into a program. I.E. SCRIPT BLUE SCREEN = Troubleshot issue and found that restarting the computer fixed the issue. Tested OK. Now pick the script from the list of predefined scripts and copy to clip board to be used where ever needed by CTRL V (paste). Thanks for dealing with all the newbees. 2¢ All by me:"Sometimes you have to go back to where you started, to get to where you want to go." nitekram
i saw you took the Class "Welcome to Autoit 1-2-3" it teaches you how to search help also 8) I think I was making it more complicated than it had to be. I thought it was going to be harder, but it was only a few lines of code to get me started. $my_file = "C:\test.txt" $file = FileOpen($my_file, 0) ; Check if file opened for reading OK If $file = -1 Then MsgBox(0, "Error", "Can't open file.") Exit EndIf Clipput(FileRead($my_file)) FileClose($my_file) One thing that I am concerned with though - it does not appear that you need to use the FileClose() as I have taken it out and ran it a couple of times with no error - the file should still be open - right? Am I missing something? By the way your program is great - is there anyway to by pass the test? Or does it matter if you get the results - as I am on a different computer? CyberSlug
Straight from the documentation for FileClose:Upon termination, AutoIt automatically closes any files it opened--but calling FileClose is still a good idea. nitekram
Straight from the documentation for FileClose:Boy, I am feeling really stupid. I think that before I ask anymore I will read the function definition. And the help, and the forum, and the scripts that have been posted - is there anyway to just input it in my head and call it a day - lol. 2¢ All by me:"Sometimes you have to go back to where you started, to get to where you want to go."
