Disable/enable Regedit

I had a pc at work that I couldnt run regedit on even though I had admin rights.... turned out I needed to change a registry key..... This script will do that....

tested on XP/W2k

Interesting...

but on my school's computer's the biggest loophole is the fact that we are able to use "Create Shortcut" to access the registry, like so:

  • Go to personal workpace area on H: drive
  • Right-click > New > Shortcut
  • Type "regedit" into the command window
  • Double-click the newly created shortcut
We IT-tuned students haven't bothered to report this loophole yet :)

Nice trick with the "create new shortcut" but if registry tools are disabled (through registry) after creating the "regedit.exe' shortcut, windows will inform you that regisrty tool is disabled and will not run regedit!

But for other things "create new shortcut" is a good "hole" :)

U can use my freeUP utility if you have hidden Folder options, hidden files, locked DesKtop icons or other restrictions.
