Recommended Posts

Hello, How do I include a parenthesis within a string? Here's my code:

$mystr=" /c \\my\server\path\(test) some path\folder\some documet.doc"
  dim $site[5]
  $site[1]= @ComSpec
  $site[2]= $mystr
  $site[3]= ""
  $site[4]= @SW_HIDE
  Run($site[1] & $site[2], $site[3], $site[4])

read the help file on run. You can only run executable files..

try

Run(@comspec & " /c start " & filegetshortname("/c \\my\server\path\(test) some path\folder\some documet.doc"))

The exact command (cmd, dos) error is:

'\\my\server\path\' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

operable program or batch file.

I see your problem now...

This should work:

$mystr=' /c @start "\\my\server\path\(test) some path\folder\some documet.doc"'
  dim $site[5]
  $site[1]= @ComSpec
  $site[2]= $mystr
  $site[3]= ""
  $site[4]= @SW_HIDE
  Run($site[1] & $site[2], $site[3], $site[4])
