I've just tested to make a bot for Winamp, using the MSN-way of making a bot..

This means that if someone of those who I'm talking to on MSN, changes their

name to something that contains for example "MW:Next", the bot changes song on Winamp :D

Useful ?

Well....it might be on a LAN...

far as your imagination. Like was said earlier, you could download and run an AutoIt file, so anything you can do with autoit.

You could use a chat program to tell the bot program to load up TightUNC or a similar program, then log in to it, and shut it down after.

Possiblilities are endless, well almost.

well, useful varries from person to person... depends what you use the computer that would be controled for... I'd say in general, it'd be useful to be able to execute a file defined in the text of a message, or maybe control Winamp? that way I could chat with my computer in the den from my wifi in the livingroom to change what song is up, or to learn the title of the current song.... something like that?

You could have it turn lights on and off in your house if you have the right equip, you could have it set up with a camera and/or mic and start recording, or have it record TV shows if you have one of those cards.

Have it start up any program.

Have it back up your hard drive.

etc...

Maybe in the future we will be able to program a remote control with AutoIt v4...

Maybe even with functions like Bring(Food) or ToiletSeat(Down) ?

We can only dream about what the future and Jon brings for us,

and we can only hope that it's nothing like Vanilla-Coke.

(No, I'm not crazy.. :D)

(I checked the site, but I don't understand that language.)

Dangerous. If someone else knows which account you're using for the bot, they can do terrible things.

Does anybody here besides me even have aol instant messenger? it seems like more people have MSN or ICQ

We grow up with MSN Messenger here in Holland.

I started using MSN Messenger when I was 13.

These days kids are 10, 11 years old when they start using it.

Allright, on topic...

I searched on Google for: "MSN Messenger bot" and I found several interesting web sites.

Until I found a website (actually a forum) that had bot templates online:

www.bot-depot.com

You can find bots that people have made (which you can add to your contact list) and

bot templates: Bots that you can use on your computer.

I'll explain the last one.

A bot uses a server to connect to MSN Messenger/AIM/IRC.

You have to have a server that speaks to the IM servers.

And a server needs to speak a langauge. And that language should work server side. (So no HTML)

For PHP you can install Apache and another server based langauge is Perl.

For that you can download ActivePerl.

Getting Started

For more information and bot templates, search/browse through this forum.

I'm using Juggernaut for MSN Messenger and it works great.

I added a command !download to let my PC (@ home) download a file.

But now I want to transfer a file from a PC to my PC @ home using MSN.

I haven't figured out a way to do it, yet.

Note:

You don't have to have MSN Messenger/AIM/IRC running at home.

Running the bot is enough.

Tip:

Run the bot only when necessary. Hackers are everywhere.

Someone who made a AIM bot, can you please share it with me?

I wanna make one for ICQ.

Since you can send SMS to ICQ, you can then remote your computer from any place you have GSM connection.

Wich means i can turn on the light at my home with the help of my phone.

Its not as hard as it sound, i got a switch button that pick up hand claps, so what i did was simulate a hand clap in my computer and it works great.

So then i can send a SMS to ICQ, LIGHT ON, and when it turned on the light it send bakc a SMS DONE or something like that.

This is not only for lights, it could be my stereo, TV etc..

Thanks in advance

Were ever i lay my script is my home...

im making an AIM bot, only im also using another exe with the AutoIt exe, my second one will take the text from the message box, and parse by colon, so i get who and what was said, then the second app enables a button and sets an edit box with the reply, AutoIt sees the enabled button and reads the new text, then sending it through AIM

although complicated, its useful!
