The string i seek is more than half way thru the exe. is there a way i can binary read an exe file 7megs in size to seek out the string i'm looking for?? For example..... "yes" in autoit.exe found at end (using a hex editor) I bet Larry will know cos he's fab! Edited April 29, 2006 by Rick Who needs puzzles when we have AutoIt!! BillLuvsU
Hmmm, what exactly is the purpose of reading it? Try using the program "Cheat Engine" to find the address of the string and then using the mem UDFs to get them ;P Working on the next big thing.Currently Playing: Halo 4, League of LegendsXBL GT: iRememberYhslaw
Rick
* sigh i thought the example i gave was enough, all i seek is to find a way to find some text in an exe. If you really want to know its to find a version number, but its not stored for filegetversion to find. Edited April 29, 2006 by Rick Who needs puzzles when we have AutoIt!!
