Draw on my Desktop

I was thinking about making a script that you could use to basically use to have like your desktop, be able to hide all the icons and be able to draw on your desktop as though in paint,

If I had any idea of a way to do this, i would post at least a sample script, but im thinking along the lines of a transparent gui that makes a trail of labels until the left mouse button is released or something like that, but i don't know how to make a window transparent but controls not transparent

This would be incredibly useful for me because it allows for me to write notes to both my roomates, without having to use all my Post-It Notes ( i do this quite often since they both use my comp, this way i can say

"DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW" if im writing an essay or something

any ideas?
