Is there anyway to turn off a USB?

Step 1: Insert a transistor connected to the data out cable

Step 2: Write a driver for the thingy that would send data to the data out cable, then stop sending data, then start sending data again!

Just some ideas.

I think what amdead wants to do is turn the usb port off and back on using a script in order to blink his Christmas lights in any pattern he likes.

I too would be interested in knowing if this is possible with AutoIt.

I think it would be rather easy to do in assembly, but I am not sure.

The only thing I know that can start stop restart USB is Devcon by MS you could script it

But likely enabling device back is not possible without reboot. At least I can't found any way to do that.

Thanks to all, I will have a go, am not to good at auto it. its just something where i can turn the lights on and off.

First, download devcon: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311272

Next, you have to find the device ID for the lights thingy.

command from the console:

devcon.exe status *

Find the appropriate ID and copy it down somewhere safe.

Okay, let's go through the program:
