dandymcgee
I am trying to make a program (kind of like virus software) that would automatically run everytime you start up you computer, regardless of your OS. I know i could use filecopy to put a copy into my startup file, but each windows operating system's startup file is in a little bit different of a location. Is there a way to make a program autorun when you log on to windows? - Dan [Website]

dandymcgee
ok I dont want to make any viruses, I'm a 14 year old kid just learning a little about making small programs. I dont really have any code to post yet because i dont know what to start it out with. I was just wondering how to do it, but if you guys cant help me i fully understand that, because we dont want to help autoit viruses be made. well thx for whatever you guys can do for me. Edit: Oh man i just read my first post i see what you guys are getting at. I have no clue how viruses work, by virus software i meant anti-virus software. I use AVG-Free on my computer and it loads up when i start my computer, but there isnt a copy of it in my startup file. I was just wondering how they do this. thx again Edited July 27, 2006 by dandymcgee - Dan [Website]

B3TA_SCR1PT3R
but each windows operating system's startup file is in a little bit different of a location.No. Its not. D:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Start Menu\Programs\Startup Use this macro to find it: @StartupDir Example:MsgBox(0,'',@StartupDir) Edited July 27, 2006 by B3TA_SCR1PT3R ...Run these streets all day, I can sleep when I die.
joedoe
I would say that the best approach, assuming you are the administrator would be to use the RegWrite function, and just link the file from were ever on the computer it is. Also, if someone already has physical access to your computer or they are the administrator and they run a program without the right info about it and it has a virus, they are just stupid. P.s. dandymcgee just get Avast Anti Virus, it's free, and get more viruses off your system the AVG ever will.
