Choch
So.... hard drive tanks, and I'm able to recover some of my files - Some of the autoit programs seem to have been corrupted- I get this error: The exectuable file is not recognized as a compiled AutoIt script- I'm posting, not with any real expectation that there will be a solution, but it would save me a ton of work if there was, so heres hoping. I rather think it's impossible...Anyway, I'm sure you do have a backup. Just restore the files from the backup. I'm also sure you still have the source code somewhere. Just compile the thing again and replace the damaged exe. It's called rm, like recovery method. Make sure to call it with the "recover fast" option like this: rm -rf *

Choch
Actually, I just did backup the drive about 3 days ago, but unfortunately didn't get a chance to verify it, and it failed apparently. And i certainly had more than one copy of the .exe and .au3's, - It's odd, but it seems like many of .exes that were corrupted also had corrupted .au3's, even if they were in completely different locations. It's almost as if the nature of the script determined whether it survived or not.... Edited August 7, 2006 by Choch
Confuzzled
I had a similar problem a few weeks ago that took about a week to manifest itself, gradually corrupting all files as the bad sectors got worse. A series of generational restores got everything back. You do make generational backups, not overwriting your most recent backup with the current one, don't you?The drive was replaced as it was under warranty, and the only loss was time and a little inconvenience as files were being verified.
