Fire javascript 'onchange' function in IE

Recommended Posts

Working with IE and COM is very effective. Now I need IE to run a javascript function called by the 'onchange' event of a particular field.

Another way of framing the problem:- When I set the value of the field the 'onchange' event is not triggered; how do I force it?

If you're using IE.au3 and the _IEFormElement*Select() functions, they will call it for you.

Otherwise, get a reference to the object and use $o_object.fireEvent ("onchange")

Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?

Reproducer: a small (the smallest?) piece of stand-alone code that demonstrates your trouble

Sorry, I know its a stupid question. But where do I find the _IEFormElementSelect function???

I've checked the helpfile, but its not listed there...

There isn't a _IEFormElementSelect function, but there is a _IEFormElementRadioSelect, _IEFormElementCheckboxSelect and _IEFormElementOptionselect function (I was trying to denote that with the * in the statement above).

Search the helpfile for those.
