Images from 404 directory.

Ok, This is what im wanting to do, Theres this directory:

http://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/thumbnails/

Which stores the item thumbnails, Im wanting to, get the images.

Except, when you go there, its "404 not found".

Heres an example of the url for the items:

http://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/thum.../6198a74607.png

Or

http://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/thum...266b11995eb.png

My first thought, would be making a script which would randomly generate the numbers/letters/ until they match, then download the file, But, this would be not a good solution, seeing as theres thousands of images. So, That would probly take a few months. Any ideas?

I don't realy see a way around this. You would have to have at least some pattern on how images are named or index.html or some other file that stores links to .png files, or misconfigured access to dir so you could list the content of directory. Making a script that will randomly generate numbers/letters with more then 6 chars and as i see you've got like 10 is waste of your time. Probability is very low on this one and you would just waste a lot of bandwidth.

Well, About a year ago, the directory *was* available, But then, Too many people were accessing it, so they got it "hidden".

well I guess they are "hinding" the icons to stop people like you to suck them.

So, what can you do:

1.) Cry

2.) Give up

3.) Create your own icons

4.) Find at least 16^12 other people that are willing to help you. Then each of you can download one single file (start with 000000000000.png and stop with FFFFFFFFFFFF.png). So you will be able to find all icons within seconds, instead of months.
