How to get the bitmap representation of a control

I need to automate an application that is using a proprietary control.

I need the bitmap that this control draws in a window.

How can I get that ?

I am afraid I can't offer you any specific help, but this is what I think you would want to do:

- create an array with all the pixels information

- look for it on the screen

I started using AutoIt for a similar reason, but I am not a developer and this task goes way over my little knowledge and "know-how". If you figure it out, please remember to post here as well, I would be forever in your debt.
