The Original RegShot 1.61e lets you take snapshots (takes < 30 seconds) of your registry and compare the differences.

If you wanted to find the registry key for always showing file extensions, you could take snaphots before and after making the change in Folder Options. Example results:

I recently discovered that someone modified Regshot to return the results as a *.REG file!!!

NOTE: This new version was designed as a plugin for Bart's PE Builder, so you need to extract RegShot.exe from the CAB. You don't need any of the ini files.
