I see 2 major issues here if you are actually looking for help.

1. Most of us aren't using Vista at the moment.

2. You have no script to replicate the issue for us to see what you are actually doing ... whether it's the UDF itself or something you've coded into the script.

Yes, I resolved the problem like this:

IE -> Tools / Internet Options / Security -> Disable IE protected mode

I was the one that posted that. I am glad that solved it for you. However, you might want to look for a way to toggle that setting, so you don't leave your computer exposed. I think Microsoft put that in for a reason (IE is dangerous and the primary path that spyware, malware etc. get installed on your computer), so keep that in mind.

I need a better roadmap to that setting... in IE -> Tools / Internet Options / Security I have "Custom Level..." and then dozens of choices and after scanning the list twice never saw "IE protected mode". What section is it in and is that the exact name?
