Search Directory

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wonder how I would go about searching an entire directory for all of its files? I made a GUI that would(soon) list all of the files in a directory for a user to veiw.

Also, I was wondering if it would also be able to search an FTP server directory(updates)

Thanks!

Use _FileListToArray() function (see help file).

If you want to search in subfolders, maby you want to look at this function (by amel27)

Func _DirListToArray ($sPath)
    Local $i, $j, $rlist[1]=[0], $blist, $alist=_FileListToArray ($sPath, '*', 2)
    If IsArray ($alist) Then
        For $i=1 To $alist [0]
            _ArrayAdd ($rlist, $sPath & "\" & $alist [$i])
            $blist = _DirListToArray ($sPath & "\" & $alist [$i])
            If $blist[0]>0 Then
                For $j=1 To $blist [0]
                    _ArrayAdd ($rlist, $blist [$j])
                Next
            EndIf
        Next
    EndIf
    $rlist [0] = UBound ($rlist) - 1
    Return $rlist
EndFunc

You could do something like this for searching for files in sub folders:

$path = 'c:\windows\'  ; include the trailing \

$output = Run(@ComSpec & " /c " & 'dir ' & '"' & $path & '' & '*.*" /b /s', '', @SW_HIDE, 2)

While 1
    $write = StdoutRead($output)
    If @error Then ExitLoop
    ConsoleWrite($write)
Wend
