Is AutoIt the good choice ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just found AutoIt by chance. Looks very impressive !

Actually, I'm looking for a MFC equivalent of the gtkdialog utility (see this url http://linux.pte.hu/~pipas/gtkdialog/) . Do not confuse with GtkDialog ;-)

I want something to setup basic dialogs easily from an external xml file (or a command-line argument), and get the control values in an output file (see the "AWK script with GUI" section in the URL above).

Is AutoIt appropriate for such an usage ? Any useful pointers to start ?

Tks for your help !

Yes, this tool is what you need (IMHO), dialogs, messages, installers, work with files etc - all this is very ease to acomplish with AutoIT! (if you learning quick).

AutoIt is a good choice for what you want to do. Spend some time learning the basics first. Learn to write little 1 or 2 line scripts that return a value to a msgBox so you can see what is happening. You will also appreciate many of the included UDF's

Good luck with your scripting  and remember that there is good support on these forums ( be sure to choose the proper forum for your question).
