Problem with httpsetproxy

Recommended Posts

Is httpsetproxy designed to change the proxy of default browser? Because i tried my internet explorer with a proxy it worked i took proxy of then tried httpsetproxy(2, "72.252.22.186:3128") what is my proxy i am using and it was back to default connection. Also does the program have to still be running for the proxy to stay on? or can it just be one command then the program can close and it is still set?

HttpSetProxy does not change MSIE settings. It can be used to USE those settings in the script (by changing the first param to 0). Is it your intention to change the proxy settings in MSIE? Then you should probably just change the right registry keys. To find those out quick&dirty, I would enter something like proxy.r00lzor.com (or anything else that is absolutely nowhere else in the registry) in the MSIE proxy settings, then save that, then use regedit to search registry for the thing you entered. That is the key you should change from script if you want to change MSIE's settings, I guess.

Just because I'm such a nice guy I tried my own suggestion for you...

Changed proxy server to proxy.bullshit.com, searched registry for proxy.bullshit.com, found it in key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\. The value name of the server itself is 'ProxyServer' but probably you should also enable 'EnableProxy'.

Might it be that you searched for this value with no proxy server enabled in your MSIE LAN settings? Because in that case, the value does not exist so you will not find it.
