Is gzip good?

I use 7-zip - has a command-line option (which makes it easy to control with AutoIt). Edited by MisterBates

Your best option is 7-zip, which very high quality.

There are some limitations to the internal compressed folder explorer in XP (like barfing on gigabyte sized files), but it works well if you can live within the constraints, and your script will never wander outside that environment. I worked on a UDF by mozart90, and then moved on to 7-zip when I started running into limitations. Might help you out some, though: Easy Zip Compression using Windows XP

Others worked on it more and came up with some tweaks, so be sure to follow that thread to the end.
