Associating File Types

A couple of questions:

How can you have a compiled Autoit3 script associate a file type with itself?

How do you program a script so that when you right click on a file and select "Open With" and then the compiled script name, the program will start up and load the file?

Only one thing:

Before I registered the file, I had it to open in NotePad on default. Now, even when I set the file type to always open with my program, it opens with notepad when you double click (although the menu item is still there when I right-click). This is just a minor problem, because mine is the only computer that has the file type associated with NotePad.

I'm not sure, but look around in this area:

Open Windows File explorer

Select "Tools" from the menu bar

Then select "Folder Options"

Then the tab named "File Types"

Locate and highlight the file extension of interest.

Once highlighted, click on the button named "Advanced".

The next window should be named "Edit File Type".

Double-click on "open" (assuming that their is an open)

and see/change the app listed in the field named:

"Application used to perform action:"
