change the .exe name

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to change the title that shows up in task manager. All of my scripts are listed as autoit.exe so i cannot close certain scripts without guessing. For example, i could make the script that changes songs "songs.exe." I know i could use hot keys to close them but i am running out of keys to do this, and all of the tray icons are starting to get annoying. I guess i could compile the scripts and name them to change the .exe that appears but is there a way to do this in the code?

The name of the exe is based on the name of the au3 file name.

If you want a different name, use the AutoIt3Wrapper directives on the top of your script.

#Region AutoIt3Wrapper directives section

#AutoIt3Wrapper_Icon=MyIcon.ico

#AutoIt3Wrapper_OutFile=MyExe.exe

#AutoIt3Wrapper_OutFile_Type=exe

#EndRegion

And compile your script with AutoIt3Wrapper (with a right clic on it)

That only shows up as AutoIt.exe if you run an uncompiled script from the commandline or SciTE. If the script is compiled, it will come up with a process name the same as the exe file. For example, if you have written your song script and saved it as song.au3, and you run it from the commandline or by F5 in SciTE, then the process will be AutoIt.exe. But it you compile it (F7 in SciTE) to song.exe and run that, the process in Task Manager will be song.exe.
