your own Operating System written in au3?

I just got a challenge from a friend of mine to write my own Operating System in AU3 code. Any takers? I think it would be an extremely challenging thing to do, but it will also be kind of fun in my opinion. It will give anybody and everybody who wants to try it out something to keep them busy and out of trouble, no? I personally would like to write my own fully functional start menu, but having trouble finding a starting point. Any advice?

I made a prank once that placed itself as a startup item which closed explorer.exe

VERY SIMPLE idea would be to do that, and then just make a giu that fits over the screen, and stays on the bottom

I think you are confusing Operating System with "Shell". There are a number of shell replacement examples posted already. You cannot write an operating system in an interpreted language like this.

Writing the "start menu", or shell as it is known, Is possible.

There is in fact, a competition currently running for it (Link goes directly to a post containing some code, which functions and should give you a good idea on a starting point)

ah, your right. i think i did get the terms confused. thanks guys, i'll look into it, as im fairly new to autoit, but i learn fast through visual / hands-on stuff
