Distinguishing 32 bits OS from 64 bits OS

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi people! Does anyone know a command that reads out 32-bits or 64-bits for the operating system itself? (Not the processor architecture!)

It's perfectly possible to open the system properties window and read it's text, but that is ugly because I need window manipulaton which I consider a last resort for this kind of information gathering.

I think it would be nice to have a thing called something like @OSArchitecture or something. But a small function will do, I just have no idea where to read it except for the system properties window. Also I don't have a 64 bits OS at my disposal to test with :)

Can anyone help me?
