CMD window closing, can't see error

Hi there, I'm writing a script to process some data files and import them into mySql community server. I'm doing this by having autoit create a .sql file containing my import commands, and then running a command line operation to tell mySql to import the files. The operation works fine when i open a cmd window and run it manually, but when the script runs it, the cmd window pops up, scrolls some text (looks like an error message and the help file to suggest some syntax) and closes before I can read what it says. Is there any way of keeping the cmd window open so that I can see the error message?

Here is the part of code that I'm using:

Run("C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysql.exe -u root -p < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql", "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\")

You could redirect the ouput to a file then read the file to see what the result was

Run("C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysql.exe -u root -p < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql > output.log", "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\")

@Justin or you can use "Stdout Read"...

From the helpfile..

; Demonstrates StdoutRead()
#include <Constants.au3>

$foo = Run(@ComSpec & " /c dir foo.bar", @SystemDir, @SW_HIDE, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)

While 1
    $line = StdoutRead($foo)
    If @error Then ExitLoop
    MsgBox(0, "STDOUT read:", $line)
Wend

While 1
    $line = StderrRead($foo)
    If @error Then ExitLoop
    MsgBox(0, "STDERR read:", $line)
Wend

MsgBox(0, "Debug", "Exiting...")

Ok, I used the STDOut command and pulled the output from the cmd window, and its just a listing of command line options. Why would it not be reading the options that i have in the script, which work when I manually type them, but not from the Run() command?

Here is the output:

Ok, I used the STDOut command and pulled the output from the cmd window, and its just a listing of command line options. Why would it not be reading the options that i have in the script, which work when I manually type them, but not from the Run() command?

Perhaps an issue with syntax being used which triggers the help index to be shown. When you run it manually, are you using the cmd prompt? If it runs manually then I am sure that Run() can do it. Any specific info that you can supply may help to solve your issue.

Here is something to try

#include <Constants.au3>

If FileChangeDir(@ProgramFilesDir & '\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin') Then
    $pid = Run(@ComSpec & ' /c mysql.exe -u root -p < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql', '', @SW_HIDE, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)
    $data = '--- StdOutRead ---' & @CRLF
    Do
        $data &= StdOutRead($pid)
    Until @error
    $data &= @CRLF & '--- StdErrRead ---' & @CRLF
    Do
        $data &= StdErrRead($pid)
    Until @error
    MsgBox(0, 'StdOutRead/StdErrRead', $data)
EndIf

:)

Run('"C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysql.exe -u root -p < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql"', "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\"')

Or

$App = FileGetShortname("C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysql.exe")
Run($App & " -u root -p < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql")

Thanks, this worked perfectly, but if anybody else is running into this problem, you have to change the syntax to:

$pid = Run(@ComSpec & ' /c mysql.exe -u root --password=passwordgoeshere < d:\filemaker\sqltest\batch.sql', '', @SW_SHOW, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)

for it to login and run the script correctly.
