How to get a part of a hostname ?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody

I Have this code

$process_id = Run(@ComSpec & " /c nslookup.exe 127.0.0.1 ","", @SW_HIDE,$STDOUT_CHILD)

$line = StdoutRead($process_id)

if StringLen($line)>11 then

$myarray = StringRegExp(StringLower($line),".*(w-013[0-9]{4}[a-z]-).*", 1)

if (StringLen($myarray[0]) >10) then

$S2_name=$myarray[0]&"2"

Msgbox (0,"test",$s2_name)

EndIf

endif

This code get in a $var the entire hostname of a distant computer

The MSGBOX send "w-0133490Y-1"

How can I modify the code in order to recuper only

"0133490Y"

Thanks a lot everybody

Merry Christmas

Something like this maybe:

This assumes that you want what is between two (exactly two) dashes

$Input = InputBox("Input", "Type in a name like w-0133490Y-1")
$temp = StringTrimLeft($Input, StringInStr($Input, "-"))
$Output = StringTrimRight($temp, StringLen($temp) - StringInStr($temp, "-") + 1)
MsgBox(0, "Results", "Input = " & $Input & @LF & "Output = " & $Output)

Helpful tips:If you want better answers to your questions, take the time to reproduce your issue in a small "stand alone" example script whenever possible. Also, make sure you tell us 1) what you tried, 2) what you expected to happen, and 3) what happened instead.Useful links:BrettF's update to LxP's "How to AutoIt" pdfValuater's Autoit 1-2-3 Download page for the latest versions of Autoit and SciTE
<glyph> For example - if you came in here asking "how do I use a jackhammer" we might ask "why do you need to use a jackhammer"<glyph> If the answer to the latter question is "to knock my grandmother's head off to let out the evil spirits that gave her cancer", then maybe the problem is actually unrelated to jackhammers
