Rename Registry Value

Hello All

This is a really simple question, I did try searching but it was in vain so in a last resort I am posting this.

How can I rename a registry key with autoit? I am trying to rename a registry value but I am not sure how.

For example I want to change HKCU\Software\Test\TestValue to HKCU\Software\Test\ChangedValue. How do I do that?

thanks

Hi,

If you need to rename the value name, you will have to read the value content, delete the old key, and then create new key with readed values...

Something like this:

$Old_Value = RegRead("HKCU\Software\Test", "TestValue")
$Value_Type = _GetExtendedType(@extended)

RegWrite("HKCU\Software\Test", "ChangedValue", $Value_Type, $Old_Value)
RegDelete("HKCU\Software\Test", "TestValue")

Func _GetExtendedType($Extended)
    Local $RegTypeArr[6] = [5, "REG_SZ", "REG_MULTI_SZ", "REG_EXPAND_SZ", "REG_DWORD", "REG_BINARY"]
    For $i = 1 To 5
        If $Extended = $i Then Return $RegTypeArr[$i]
    Next
EndFunc

With registry paths is more complicated, but it's possible (using RegEnumKey/Val in loop).

Ok Toda very much. I see the logic in what you are saying and have written some code to reflect that. It would be better if you could just have a rename key function but i guess i will have to make a request in that section eh.

:)
