i am paying somone to do a web based version... an expert in that field. but i have decided against the sql for now. i do plan on implementing it later. however for now i need to know something. is there a way for a php page to write data into the database?

1st question, what is the database?

2nd question, do you know what PHP is?

3rd Question, do you know what a PHP helpfile is?

3)i know what one is, however if i have somone offer to help i dont intend to do so myself and make errors when i could be doing something productive.

i'm sorry but a database is not just AN INI FILE! a mysql database can hold far more data than an ordinary file and access it with far greater speed!

as for the php if u would look at the address on this topic u would see "index.php" in it and... gues where all theese topics/replys are stored .. plus paying someone to do it for u... takes all the fun away;)

yes true and i was saying that is my current database, but unless you are 100% positive you can take my server script and make it run off mysql without a problem. (i couldn't even get it to write all the data in the same colum, it just wrote all the info one line down after anotehr in the correct row and make a diagonal like thing) then i am sticking with the file.

dude ... that's some crappy code in the server ...

i managed to make it work with mysql... (kinda)

still some problems with the friggin online/offline status and friends list

if u want we could release the server code too... cause releasing just the client ... well... thats not phun

oh and for the php registration .. it works great it's safe (image verification, mysql injection proof )

okay, please zip up the php registration and i will add it. also the thing is, i dont see why there would be online/offline problems, i mean i know when someones off line it just says offline, because it messes up and usses a random name if not, but i fixed that by just having it say offline, then their username when u right click them. however if you can not get it to function with mysql properly then yes you could realese the server code. im just scared it will let people exploit...

yeah.. i'm still here just that the last days.. were kinda busy for me..

btw for the mysql to work you need the odbc driver (search the forum for the mysql udf and you well also see a link to the odbc driver)

well as i recall adding/removing friends(adding only refreshes after relogin) and i'm not to sure about removing

and online/offline status of users

also... the php dose it use a .ini or mysql

i was thinking maybe to use an .ini for the users contact functions since mysql dont work well.

i am getting an error on line 27 of mysql.au3 saying the object action failed

fixed all that, but now when i try to log in it says wrong username and password, so my question is, did you make any tweaks to the client code because mine wont log in.

says invalid username or password (for all accounts)
