killroy
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen, I am truly hoping someone will be able to solve my insy winsy, teeny, weeny, problem. I have a fairly big text document. I would like to open the document and do a 'Search and Replace' like notepad. 'Find What' -> 'Replace With'.now for the catch! I want to do it Automatically!! hence the AutoIt Forums clever or what I have tried dabbling a bit with FileOpen, FileWriteLine and StringReplace but I am having no joy and I would hate to paste what code I do have because it's not more then a few lines and does nothing but fill the document with empty lines. If one of you highly intelligent individuals wouldnt mind sharing your knowledge and pointing me In the right direction, I would be most grateful. Thanking you very muchly. DaLiMan
Accually it is: Itsy, Bitsy, Teeny, Weeny (like the song Yellow Polka Dot Bikini) Problem. but I don't think you know the song at all. Anyway, about your script. Could you program to open the file and then the keyboard shortcut (CTRL-H) and let it fill in the things you want to replace? I think that would be the easiest way. killroy
Hi all, I have tried the above example and have got it to work but becuase my document is so big and because I have many Search and Replace strings I would really like for it to be done in the background. Cheers Byron
DaLiMan
Maybe @HIDE will work for you. But can't really help you with that because I'm always struggling with that option too. Sorry. I hope someone more expirienced can help you further.
