vio1ator
Is there a udf for compressing/decompressing strings ? Example, $x = StringCompress("hello world") $y = StringDecompress($x) $x will contain the compressed string. $y will contain "hello world". vio1ator
I want to create a simple chat program for my school project. I was hoping that such a function will save bandwidth.
PsaltyDS
I want to create a simple chat program for my school project. I was hoping that such a function will save bandwidth. The strings will be too short for that to help. Compression has it's own overhead and is only effective on much larger data sets than "Hello world." With almost any compression algorithm, a string that short would be LONGER after compression than it started. Valuater's AutoIt 1-2-3, Class... weaponx
I agree. I could see the desire to encrypt the string though.

monoceres
Several. However if you want to compress the text directly without writing them to a file first you have fewer options.http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.ph...ory+compressionhttp://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.ph...284&hl=zlibIf you'd like to work with files I recommend these:http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85094http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.ph...524&hl=zlibhttp://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.ph...3425&hl=zip Broken link?
