Extended file properties

I posted this about half an hour ago and I don't know what happened to it (probably hit "back" before the post was made) but here it is again. This is the final result of someone asking how to get the length of an avi file a while back. Now it returns any one or all of the extended file properties for document, image, audio or video files.

Edit: Code removed. You can now get it from

My AutoIt Website

In the left sidebar, click on Code >> My Extra UDFs >> Filex.au3. As usual you can copy the code to the clipboard or download the Filex.au3 file in zip format.

Also the function name has been changed.

Neat but there is another one here by lod3n :D

Edit:

And another here by Gary!

Correct. The version by lod3n doesn't return such things as duaration and I don't think it did image dimensions, or camera info either. If you look carefully at mine you will see that "ALL" does precicly the same as Garys since that is actually published in VBS on Technet.. It was a matter of converting it. I wanted one that would return individual properties. Now I'm working on one to write certain data to the files.

I removed the code and replaced it with a link to where you can view or download it. See the first post.

  • 4 weeks later...

I removed the code and replaced it with a link to where you can view or download it. See the first post.

I have spent the last 4 hours trying to find something like this. I got all excited and notice the link is not working...could you check it?
