hey guys... im just making the simplist text editor that i can and i was wondering why this doesnt work:

FileSaveDialog ("Save...", @DesktopDir, "Text (*.txt)")

this is my first time using this command, so why doesnt this save a file? i have the rest of the script here but why doesnt this work?

This command doesn't save a file, but prompts for a file name and returns that.

So for example:

$filename = FileSaveDialog ("Save...", @DesktopDir, "Text (*.txt)")
If @error Then
    MsgBox(4096,"","Save cancelled.")
    Exit
Else
    FileWrite($filename,"text to save")
    MsgBox(4096,"","You chose " & $var)
EndIf
