You can use IrfanView to save any image to a .ico.

He knew because he has done it before. It was a good way to make windows recognize any pic as a .ico for your use, but it doesnt work as it isnt a real icon. :-P

Using IrfanView though saves the proper file format of .ico from any image it can open.
