installing issues on windows xp sp3

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone - ive reformatted my pc with XP SP3 - previously has SP2 on it and no issues with installing AU3 - but now when i install on SP3 i seem to have the following issues and wonder if anyone else has had them and a fix ?

* not able to right click on the desktop - and create a new AU3 file - in c:\windows\ShellNEW there is a template.au3 file but doesnt show in the context menu

* file associations have been setup but no edit button when right clicking on the file (its like not everything has been setup correctly)

* double clicking an au3 file opens it in notepad not running it (i had set it to "Run the script" during the install)

for now thats all i can think of but this is a pain in the ...

Cheers

Craig

I've not seen any of those problems.

Did you slipstream SP3 into an existing ISO?

no i have a slipstreamed SP2 install disc which i then installed sp3 over the top of - i only ask cause this is the first time ive had any issues installing any version of AU3... Edited by craig.gill

Did you install v3.2.12.1 of AutoIt?

Did you install the "full" version of SciTE after that?

Did you install any AV or malware protection before the AutoIt install?

bummer

I would have to format my drive and start over...

You might try a VM built from the same CD, then SP3, then AutoIt... nothing else.

If it happens in the VM, then get a different ISO of XP.

yeah i might give that a go - may try both before and after with sp3, and patches etc, try to rule everything out. thanks for the replies.
