Veloce
I'm about to install Ubuntu Linux on my computer. Would AutoIT work on it? or would I have to use Wine?
Community On Patrol
Hi Veloce, Please create descriptive topics. Using one word topics makes it really difficult to use the search feature, and those that could probably answer your question will probably not even read your thread. Doing it enough could cause your posting privileges to be taken away all together, and we don't want that . Thanks.

Pain
Yes it will work but as you said yourself you will have to use Wine. Make a search for Linux or Wine here at the forum and you will find some usefull topics. Btw COP is a bot so no need to answer Edited September 28, 2008 by Pain
Veloce
Didn't know he was a bot. Haha Thanks for the reply. Would I be able to run my programs on Linux or no?
Pain
Yes with Wine but some things will not work like ShellExecute().
Veloce
How would I make programs to run on Linux though?
dbzfanatic
We keep telling you, you have to use wine. I personally wrote a few programs on linux in autoit and they worked but they were very simple. In order to use wine to run more complicated programs you'll have to install the proper DLLs in the wine folder. PsaltyDS
If you need an environment familiar from Windows to use within Linux, you might check out GAMBAS, which is very similar to Visual BASIC.AutoIt's interpreter is written and compiled for Win32 (and/or Win64) APIs, and will not run under Linux. With WINE, you can create a Win32-like environment to run AutoIt under (I even test some RegRead()/RegWrite() functions in it), but AutoIt is not natively compatible with *nix.
